Who you will see

    Family therapist and founder

    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) · FL Lic. # 000000

She sees families of several generations, couples and adults. She starts every first conversation by asking who lives in the house and who might like to be in the room. She sees clients in Spanish and in English.

    Reinaldo Portela

    Clinical therapist

    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) · FL Lic. # 000000

He sees adults and couples, and works with men and older adults who have never talked with a therapist before. He sees clients in Spanish and in English.

  • Portrait of Yamilet Machado, a therapist, standing in a sunlit hallway of a small practice

    Yamilet Machado

    Mental health counselor

    • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) · FL Lic. # 000000

She sees young adults and couples. She grew up in Miami and talks in Spanish, in English or in both in the same session, the way many homes in the city speak.

How Respite began

A place where nobody has to translate what they feel

Respite began with a simple idea: that Miami families could talk with a therapist without leaving the language of the home at the door. Today we are three therapists, a front desk that answers on WhatsApp and a room with a big table.
